In the daytime, it is the perfect place to relax with a book and a coffee, or a quiet moment of writing... While in the evening, it lends itself perfectly to cocktails and gourmet dishes accompanied by some mellow jazz tunes.

The music, the beautifully lit terrace and the lively conversations all combine to create a unique, upbeat and friendly atmosphere.

Jacques Majorelle,
a painter in love with Marrakech

Artist Jacques Majorelle was a great enthusiast of North Africa, particularly Marrakech and southern Morocco. A painter in the Orientalist style, stripped of all exoticism, he invented a deep ultramarine blue that bears his name today. He came to La Mamounia in 1922 to decorate a restaurant, and later acquired a palm grove where he had two villas built. The first in a traditional Moorish style and the second in pure clean lines.

Subsequently purchased by Yves Saint-Laurent and Pierre Bergé, the latter shimmers in its brilliant blue tones in the heart of the magnificent Majorelle Garden, and is a must-see attraction when visiting the Red City.
